... product really has it all. Natural clay, broad, sturdy stance and striking palm and fern designs ( etched by hand ) make this chimenea a real standout.
Portablility: Two piece design so easily place in the trunk of a car for use at the beach, on a picnic or in your own backyard. A 14” stainless steel grill is included for cooking. So you can cook your meal, then replace the top and keep warm near the fire. Multiple use: outdoor fireplace, natural barbecue; garden and patio decor; camp or cottage fires.
Physically sturdy and well made to last this chimenea has thick walls of pure, kiln fired Guadalajara clay. The bottom piece weighs 45 lbs and the top 30 lbs making it portable and readily moved for storage or transport: 33 inches tall, 17 inches deep and 17 inches wide.
Thus far we're very pleased with our clay chimenea. Here's what I can tell you first hand:
I've moved it several times to use at various locations. Simply remove the top portion , then pick up the bottom and the job's done. Sturdy and sure the broad, clay feet are even and angled slightly to support the chimenea without any wobbling.
Large roaring fire not required. Surprisingly, just small sticks of wood for fuel are needed due to the ability of clay to evenly control heat. A thin layer of common sand is placed in the bottom of the fire bowl to control hot embers and dissipate heat- a small, steady fire is sufficient.
What about larger fires? Although it's not what the product is intended for, I've had larger fires, flames licking out the top of the chimenea, and the clay chimenea can handle it. The generous, ample fire bowl supports burning and tapers into the broad chimney to evacuate smoke extremely well. The broad capable legs are designed to remain cool and prevent heat transfer to your deck or patio floor - this product is a marvel.
Unlike awkward, ill-designed steel chimeneas the wide, oval mouth of the fire bowl makes it easy to build, start and re-stoke the fire with small sticks as needed. Because it's not a raging inferno you can sit near to enjoy the warmth and maintain the gentle, modest fire.
Of course safety and prudence are required near any fire, but one thing I've appreciated is that our children love this clay chimenea and we're all more at ease because of it's smaller fires that don't tend to emit vicious spark missiles - the fires are small and calm, yet warm and inviting.
The removable top ( chimney ) for use of the stainless steel grill is a real asset for roasting food gently. With regard to practicality, the product has proven ideal for use on our wooden deck and for charm and ambiance you can't beat this Mexican, clay chimenea - it's a winner.
