Neoprene Floatsuit™ designed for warmth and comfort as children learn to swim.

... an experienced SCUBA diver, I recognize a good wet suit and see quality in this product. Further, to develop a strong sense of comparison, my children have worn the Swimline suit and a competitive, quality lycra suit many times at indoor pools,outdoor pools, lakes and salt water beaches. My choice is definitely the neoprene, Swimline Swim Trainer Floatsuit. Other suits on the market look like body armour, are bulky and awkward. Not the Swimline suit, for style, comfort and performance you can't beat this product.

F.Y.I :This product originally termed the "Floatsuit" was meticulously designed and brought to market by a small company, then, taken over by Swimline Corp. of N.Y. which now own the commercial rights for the product. Swimline Corp. is the largest manufacturer of above ground pool liners in the world and the largest importer of other pool related accessories, in the U.S.A, so it's a good assumption they have a keen eye for quality a winning product. To that end the former Floatsuit, now the Swim Trainer is offered in their line up of pool accessories.

Neoprene provides insulating warmth and floatation. Comparatively, lycra, when wet, wicks away body heat- eventually kids will become cold and want to take the suit off. Neoprene retains body heat so kids stay warmer making this suit ideal for longer time spent at the beach, pool or lake where kids are in and out of the water. The slim, non-bulky inner floatation material is sewn in and is very soft and flexible. Also, because Floatsuit™ is not tight fitting at the arms and legs there is an exchange of water from inside the suit, so unlike a wet suit that retains water to body temperature, this suit keeps a child warm but not too warm, making it suitable for both cooler outdoor temperatures and hot climates.

There's no question, my three year old daughter, is more content and remains in an outdoor pool longer during swimming lessons while wearing her neoprene Swim Trainer. The suit is comfortable for her, her movements are unhindered and the floatation gives her confidence a boost while learning to swim. Swimline Swim Trainer is not an approved PFD so children must be assisted and attended to at all times by a competent swimmer while wearing the Swim Trainer.

Children are particularly susceptible to harmful ultra violet rays. Swimline Floatsuit™ does double duty as a high quality Ultra Violet Protection swim suit has a U.P.F. rating of 50 and covers skin from upper arms to thighs, so Floatsuit™ protects from the suns harmful rays too.  

How durable is it ? Our children have worn the suits daily at swimming lessons, recreational trips to beaches, we've travelled with them, washed (by hand only)them numerous times, then passed them down to other children when ours have outgrown them - and they were in new condition. Too,I've spoken at length with the designer of the Swimline Swim Trainer, formerly the "Floatsuit" who's an avid swimmer, free diver, surfer and father that's done his homework to produce a high quality children's floatation suit for kids just learning to swim. In fact he's also designed a neoprene child float suit in larger sizes with special needs kids (XL and XXL sizing options)in mind. On examination you'll see that stitching is flawless, colors are deep and rich and the suit is sized very well. This is a high end product that's well worth the investment.

An important factor to consider is that neoprene does not pick and pill - lycra does. Kids climb in and out of pools and often fall and rub against objects as they play - that new lycra suit will look shabby in no time. The father of two young children, my choice is the neoprene Floatsuit™ because it's warm durable, non-restrictive, flexible and designed to be non-chafing and rash resistant. It's the perfect learning aid for my kids to learn to swim with confidence. Be aware, this product is not a life jacket or PFD, so a qualified swimmer must remain with a child wearing the Swim Trainer at all times in the water. Although the suit will keep the child afloat, it dose not lend itself to balance a child upright the way a PFD does, so a child's face will immerse easily if left unattended.

Sizes and floatation:Swimline Swim Trainer keeps kids at surface level when in a relaxed position, achieved by even distribution of foam from torso (upper body) to knees. It should be noted that the size small suits have floatation in the upper body only. The Swim Trainer was meticulously designed to fit comfortably and for smaller kids, 2-3 years old, the fit is generally better without floatation in the legs. The large and medium sizes have floatation in thighs and upper body to provide a bit more floatation for larger kids. That said, Spider man neoprene suits, available in small, medium and large sizes only, have floatation in the upper body only which still provides very good floatation for non-swimmers. In fact the Spider man suit has more floatation added in the upper body than the regular suits, to compensate, so it's outrageously cool , licensed Spider man design isn't detracted from. .
