"At the turn of the century my Grandmother, Lavinia Parsons-Atwell, arrived in Nova Scotia from Newfoundland, bringing her English heritage, family traditions, and the Olde English Plum Pudding recipe. She served her culinary creation like a true artist, with grace and pride, delighting all who sat at her table. Some of my earliest Christmases were spent at her house, where the Pudding was the highlight of the Christmas feast and a family affair. The breathtaking anticipation of seeing it removed from the pot and prepared for the table was a joyous celebration. The aroma of the pudding cooking would fill the house and tantalize the appetite, so delicious in taste and texture it could linger in one's memory a lifetime.
After Grandmother was gone the tradition was carried on by my Mother, who gave me a pudding pot, cloth, and Grandmother's pudding recipe, with all its little secrets, as a shower gift. Like generations before me, I served the flaming pudding to family and friends every Christmas. Caught up in the magic and excitement of a nearly forgotten and seldom practiced cooking art, I created a business, born out of a love and appreciation for a wonderful heritage, and a desire to share such a classic dessert as Grandmother Lavinia's Olde English Christmas Pudding."
