About the size of a crock pot Champion weighs just 7 pounds and is only 11 inches high and 11 inches in diameter. Easy to set up and operate , there's no assembly, simply take it out of the box, plug it in and let it got to work. The concept is for mosquitoes to be attracted to Champion's powerful lures instead of people. Those lures are: blue light, Thermal Imaging (to mimic body heat) and a common octenol cartridge (hangs on the side of Champion's housing with supplied "S" hook). Octenol (1-octen-3-ol)* is a naturally occurring by-product that comes from plants and some animals, (pheromone and kairomone) such as oxen and cows, that ingest large amounts of vegetable matter. Your purchase includes one octenol cartridge which will last 2-3 weeks. Once in contact with Champion inward air flow created by it's very quite, effective fan pulls mosquitoes to the capture bag where they are trapped. Virtually maintenance free, just occasionally empty the contents of capture bag where mosquitoes are trapped and dehydrated.

Champion plugs into a 120V AC outlet and is not intended for occasional use, instead the trap should be in operation full-time during mosquito season to gradually reduce the local mosquito population. The unit has an auto sensor that'll turn the device on at dusk and off at dawn because dusk to dawn is the most active period for mosquitoes. Capture of just a few mosquitoes daily has substantial impact with Champion in full-time operation mode and using the trap this season in such a manner reduces the number of mosquitoes next season.

I've been using Champion mosquito trap continuously for days set on automatic and it's been operating like clockwork turning on at dusk and off at dawn even through rain, fog, and high winds without hesitation. Champion works just as reliably when the optional on at dusk and off at dawn feature is disabled causing the device to operate continuously 24 hours a day. But because mosquitoes are most active at dark I prefer to use Champion then. Champion has proven itself to be an effective, reliable product that's extremely easy to set-up and operate.

What to expect: Champion is intended to reduce the population of flying insects such as mosquitos and black flies and should be used early in the black fly and mosquito season. It is not intended for brief, periodic use such parties and barbecues. When used as directed the product will reduce the flying insect population as mentioned.
It's very important, in my opinion, to use Octenol with Champion because unlike propane burning devices it does not emit C02. Instead, octenol will serve very useful in drawing mosquitoes and black flies. Three octenol are included with your purchase and additional cartridges may be purchased.

Octenol (1-octen-3-ol) is a naturally occurring by-product that comes from plants and some animals, (pheromone and kairomone) such as oxen and cows, that ingest large amounts of vegetable matter. Champion comes with three octenol cartridge included in the purchase price. The optional extra octenol is a pack of two cartridges. The cartridge is a solid plastic strip which contains octenol mosquito attractants from which the vapor attractant is emitted. Over time the vapor will evaporate from within the cartridges strip. The effective life of each cartridge is 21 days. After 21 days the octenol mosquito attractant will evaporate and no longer be effective. Package of 2 should last up to 42 days.
