... it to be uncomplicated and easy to use. Set-up took perhaps five minutes, including a quick read of the users guide. Vector has the appearance and feel of a solid, well made piece of equipment - it's no toy. In fact the manufacturer advise it is intended for use by adults and should not be used by minors
(read cautions). So, having read the instructions I plugged into a 110 volt outlet (power adaptor for other voltages) then : 1./ set Vector to one of 7 intensity levels (there's a dial on front that turns clockwise); 2./ coat the hair with lots of conductive gel (very important); 3./ attach the ground wire to the patch electrode and stick this self-adhesive patch to your body (electricity requires this negative, or ground, point to flow); 4./ grasp the gel coated hair with the tweezers applying power for a period of 6 to 30 seconds; 5./ pull back on the tweezers and pluck out the hair. I found the procedure uncomplicated and pretty straight forward, so continued to treat three unsightly hairs that protrude from side of my neck at the base and toward the back. These three rascals seemed kind of obvious to me so I was more than happy to Vector them.
To get a good sense of Vector:, I used the highest intensity level - seven. Meaning two things, first it takes the shortest time (only 6 seconds) to destroy the hair follicle and second, direct contact by the tweezers to skin will deliver the greatest sensation of electricity. Painless ? Yes, unless you touch skin with the tip of the tweezers which are live with electric current when either: (a) the power switch is on , or, (b)the foot pedal depressed. Repeatedly, I purposely touched the skin of my neck with tweezers, juiced to level seven, to get a sense of this and felt a burning / pinching sensation that although unpleasant and slightly painful I found it completely bearable for momentary contact. There was no redness or obvious skin damage. Respect that Vector is an electrified piece of equipment intended to destroy hair follicles in a convenient and painless manner but if you touch skin with the electrified tweezers you'll feel it.Sensation varies depending on the power setting you select between one to seven. Vector is a substantial, AC powered electric device (read cautions),not a low powered battery operated one.
Ease of use: Doing this alone use of a mirror was required to see the hairs and position the tweezers, so coordination was certainly a factor and it was a bit awkward because the hairs were located at the base, toward the back, or side of my neck. But this made for a better trial of the product so that's good. That taken into account, I treated three hairs with Vector and was truly pleased with the product. In all, the procedure took about twenty minutes. Vector is registered with the U.S.Food and Drug Administration (FDA # B101194) To form a fuller understanding of hair removal systems and product claims visit the FDA web site.
Using the twezers: Each hair must be grasped firmly at the base once it's been coated with conductive gel, then grasp and hold the hair for the required period of time to pass sufficient electric current through it. See chart below. Then, pluck the hair.
