  • Internet Enabled Piano Suite, A Multi-purpose Tool for Music Teachers
  • Learning to play a keyboard instrument is a skill that is traditionally developed over several years, and is a challenge for many students. Piano Suite software makes excellent use of the abilities of the PC to complement the traditional methods of instrumental music instruction, increasing the likelihood of success. Piano Suite was developed specifically to assist in learning to sight-read and learning to play. Teachers often prescribe Piano Suite as a coach at home to increase student interest, and to provide the student with additional feedback and activities on an ongoing basis.

Piano Suite, with its new Internet features can also be used to deliver a practical and enjoyable instructor-led lesson on-line or in the classroom. Instructors can tailor Piano Suite features to an individual student's needs, while the interface enables group instruction over the net.

Piano Suite is well received by a wide range of students at various ages and skill levels, from novice through intermediate. Use of the interactive learning methods in Piano Suite develops playing skills, providing numerous small successes along the way. Piano Suite contains additional elements of an ideal music lesson that are not otherwise easy to provide, such as composition theory games, and music history. The generous multi-genre music content, carefully sequenced theory review, and many other features in the Piano Suite software are readily available when instructing several students in a classroom or a group lesson on-line. Most importantly, the learning engine works very well, and students and teachers create their own music easily with the built-in composer tool.

Piano Suite Premier Software - Stand Alone Features:

    1. Theory Thinker: A comprehensive narrated review of general music theory, primarily sight-reading basics for novice to intermediate students, with 120 practice pieces, and nine great skill-building, multi-setting games.

    2. Piano Player: A place to practice more than 500 interest pieces of skill level 1-5, and improve your playing ability. An interactive display and assessment engine makes this process both fun and effective, using a keyboard connected to the computer. Piano Player doubles as a quality song book, providing various additional items of interest for the pieces you are playing, such as illustrations, short videos, voice recordings, instrument mixing, and song lyrics. Students will typically explore all genres of music found in the Classical, Pop-Rock, Jazz-Blues, Children's, Country, Christmas, Religious, Traditional, Anthem and Folk categories, not to mention the 65 licensed pieces by some of the world's most famous popular artists. This learn-to-play library keeps the interest of students of any age, and at many skill levels, for a period of several years.

    3. Composers Corner: Record your own music, or load in someone else's composition. Then clean up the notation, add fingering, song lyrics, and even a picture, and save it in a library to learn to play. All Piano Player's learning methods can be used with your new piece.

    4. History Happens: Study the lives of more than 350 great composers and performers that went before you, learn who made romantic, classical, or baroque music, and find out who made the music scores for several popular movies.

    5. Great Games: Fun, and developmental, Grand Staff Battle, Semitone Says, and Concentration.

Piano Suite Classroom / Internet Features:

    1. Connect quickly as a teacher for a scheduled lesson.

    2. Connect quickly as a student for a scheduled lesson.

    3. Student receives the Electronic Dictation Book from their teacher on connection. This contains the prepared class format, with instant links to exercises and pieces in Piano Suite, or any additional compositions the teacher has prepared for this lesson. Teachers can easily record a voice and/or text message to introduce each lesson item in the dictation book.

    4. Teachers can Broadcast voice to all connected students, or students can speak one at a time with instructors using a control similar to a walkie-talkie

    5. Teachers can communicate with any/all students with a text Chat window.

    6. Teachers can Review what is on any student's screen at any time, and can review a minute-by-minute log of each student's activities since the beginning of the lesson.

    7. Teachers can Control the students PC, to move around in Piano Suite - both the teacher and the student will end up at the same place. This is called control mode.

    8. Teachers can use Receive mode to listen to a student's play, and discuss the assessment afterward. This is like having the teacher right beside the student.

    9. Teachers can Review the performance of students by gathering up all the practice results from students at any point during the class. This detailed performance data can help recognize what to work on next, and can show areas of improvement over time.

    10. Students can Search for the studio, music school, or conservatory of their choice, can Register, and can Request a teacher that is appropriate for them. During this process they will be able to locate a school with available instructors, and can find out about the school they are about to use. The lesson will normally be booked by a phone call or email or on-line request to the conservatory, with payment options varying from one school or studio to another.

    11. Conservatories and music schools and studios can register their school or studio on-line with free software from Adventus, and can Provide information about their school and instructors on-line. Students using Piano Suite will be able to see each registered conservatory.

    12. Teachers can register online, a request with any conservatory to teach on-line. Completion of the registration of a teacher with a music school varies from school to school, but this will likely be done by phone or on-line application, with payment terms varying from school to school.

    13. Music schools will be able to use free software from Adventus to Schedule or reschedule both teachers and students for on-line classes, individual or group.

    Ongoing Teacher Procedure:
After lessons are booked, and your available time is updated with your music school for the current week or month, start up Piano Suite. Press Connect each time you have a lesson. You will immediately be available to your students, or you will be reminded of the lesson time. If you like, you can prepare the class objectives beforehand by using Piano suite to prepare a Dictation Book. Your students will receive the currently loaded dictation book when they connect for the lesson. Save dictation books that you use for your classes, and improve on them from year to year. The dictation book reduces the time you spend explaining to your on-line students what to do during the lesson. Create links before the lesson, and during the lesson, students can proceed by pressing the link button. This becomes more important with group classes.

    Conservatory System Requirements:

    General Comments:
The ongoing procedure for the student is very simple. The ongoing procedure for the teacher is limited to preparation for each class, and scheduling of their own time, though some teachers may do their own marketing. Conservatories can join at a very low startup cost, and can improve their efficiency of registration by moving portions of it on-line later. Marketing of the music school to new on-line students is possible on the music school's web site. This can be complemented by carefully including information about your instructors for display on-line, or by working with Adventus to advertise your school.
