The Mark-6 and Mark-7 have a slightly thicker frame at 5/16th of an inch and are made from a stronger grade stainless steel. The standard seats, Mark-3, Mark-6, Mark-7 are not suited for trail riding, trick riding or downhilling, rather they are for use with regular road bicycles on paved roads.

The Mark-9 (weighs 750 grams) seat has a double frame so it's much stronger and the manufacturer, Spongy Wonder Inc., provide a lifetime warranty for this seat and advise that the Mark-9 bicycle seat is suitable for off road, trail riding and / or heavier riders up to 330 pounds. This hornless bike seat will affix only to a micro-adjustable seat clamp and a longer bolt is included to accommodate your new seat. The replacement bolt will fit most micro adjustable clamps, but if your existing bolt has an unusual thread pattern it is readily matched at a fastening shop. The manufacturer advise it's important that the replacement bolt be made of the highest and strongest grade steel.

The manufacturer further advise that the frame of all models of this seat has, like other bicycle components, a limited life span and due to certain variables may last indefinitely. What about exercise bikes ? Exercise bikes range in the way the seat is affixed and some exercise bikes will readily accept the Spongy wonder seat ( my exercise bike does ), others may not. You'll notice that the bicycle seat has two parallel rails fit to the clamping mechanism on the seat post, well the Spongy Wonder seat has two parallel rails designed to fit in the clamping mechanism of the regular bike seat. So, if the regular bicycle seat fits your exercise bike then the Spongy Wonder seat will too.

Seat covers - optional with every orderThe perfect compliment to the bike seat, the covers increase comfort and enhance performance by allowing your body to shift naturally while pedaling, otherwise,lycra bike pants will stick slightly to the laminated surface of the seat. Further, the covers protect the neoprene foam seat pads, from scuffs, damage and pressure indentations. The seat covers resist moisture and perspiration and are easily removed and washable. Durable and great looking, the seat covers finish the seat perfectly and are made to last for years. I've ridden the seat with and without the covers and originally was quite satisfied with the "naked" seat. In comparison, now, though, my seat is dressed up, more comfortable and performs better with the seat covers - now I won't ride without them. Comfortable? this saddle is very unique and a key feature is the generous foam pads which have been exhaustively developed for comfort over a five year period to what they are today. The seat, in my opinion, is a pleasure to ride and enormously more comfortable than a stock bike seat. Realize though, your weight is now transferred to the ischium (sit bones) and like many forms of new, specific exercise it may take a little time for your glutes (bum muscles) to adapt. This is especially true if you are relatively new to exercise and have atrophied or underdeveloped glute muscles. The function of this seat is to shift the pressure point of body weight from the delicate groin area to the more robust buttocks (sit bones). So, if you are new to exercise and cycling, and just looking for a cushy seat, this may not be for you. There are other dual pad, hornless and semi- hornless single pad seats on the market that may suit you better. This seat is better suited to persons looking for a true hornless bike seat solution.
