1. No damaging pressure on the perineum (the area between the rectum and genitals). 2. The dual platforms are tilted to eliminate the problem of nonadjusting seatpost clamps. If you do have a tilting seatpost clamp, you have even more adjustment options! 3. Dual platforms are 3 1/2" wide (Mark-7 is 4" wide) because a wider bicycle seat allows for a successful transfer of weight. And, platforms are inwardly and outwardly adjustable so you can customize to fit you exactly! You may be completely happy with how we have set up your bicycle seat but if you want to make adjustments all you need is a 7/16" wrench! There are no moving parts or complicated mechanisms to foul up, break down or service! 4.'Wipe out' and tear the foam? Simply pop off the old pads and put on the new ones! I provide 1 extra set (2 pads) of foam pads with every seat! Should you require additional foam sets, they can be purchased |

http://www.chronicprostatitis.com reports that: Cycling, ...involve significant
perineal compression forces which starve the urethra, bladder and prostate of blood. Blood starvation is known as "ischemia". When the blood returns to the area it is known as "reperfusion". As a result of this, one can suffer an "ischemia-reperfusion injury", which has long been known to result in inflammation in the area affected. An IR injury may also lead to inflammation through nerve damage. That's the whole concept in a nutshell. It's a well known and much-studied concept in medicine, where transplanted organs may become inflamed after blood deprivation, for instance. To make matters worse, the prostate is a poorly blood-perfused gland anyway, so the ischemia caused by excessive sitting may make a gland with a marginal blood supply even more susceptible to this kind of injury. "... physical therapist, however, suggested that I fold two towels lengthwise and place them almost parallel but not touching so that ...just behind the ischium (the sit bone) ...is entirely supported by a folded towel. My perineum is thus suspended between the two folded towels--meaning that there is no pressure on it whatever."[Precisely the concept of the Mark IV Hornless Bike Seat] | ||||

NEW YORK (Reuters Health) - "Just like men, women who bike regularly can be struck with genital pain and numbness after a lengthy ride. But an anatomically-friendly bicycle seat might help matters; a sports medicine doctor reports: `I don't know that women are aware of symptoms they can get and that a seat can impact that,' Dr. Juan C. Buller, a sports medicine physician in Sacramento, California, told Reuters Health. `For long-term riding, you have quite a few symptoms seen in males, such as pain, impotence and sexual dysfunction,' Buller said. `We wanted to see whether these same symptoms are found in females.' Buller also investigated whether such symptoms could be alleviated by specially-designed bike seats called split seats,...' " [Precisely the concept of the Mark IV Hornless Bike Seat] "According to Buller, the women reported less discomfort, numbness and pain with the split seat than with the standard one. Buller said that he would not take `lightly' the problems associated with the prolonged pressure of biking. `A lot of people spend money on equipment,' he noted. `I think the saddle is something they should be careful about.'(Study:'Split' Bike Seats May Ease Women's Pain: Study By Melissa Schorr SOURCE: Clinical Journal of Sports Medicine 2001;11:289.
