How it's made Why it works Science Testimonials For me? For women? warranty?

How is the bicycle seat made?

  • Metal components  are  made from stainless steel by a Canadian manufacturing firm specializing in small stainless steel components!  It's corrosion resistant and will never look shabby because of marring, chipping or discolouring.

  • Frame rail of the Mark-3 Hornless Bike Seat is made with 9/32 inch thick stainless steel rod. The frame rail of the Mark-6 and Mark-7 Hornless Bike Seat is made from thicker rail which is a stronger grade oif stainless stell than the other Mark-3. The Mark-7 seat has much wider seat pads to accommodate heavier riders. The Mark-8 bicycle seat has a double frame that's guaranteed by the manufacturer, Spongy Wonder Inc. for a lifetime, this seat also has the wide seat pads.

  • Foam seat pads of Mark-3 and Mark-6 bile seats are 3.5 inch wide x 3.75 inch long x 1 inch thick. The mark-7 seat pads are 4 inches wide and 4.5 inches long and 1 inch thick. Pads are closed cell neoprene; very comfortable and affixed to laser cut stainless steel mounts for solid support and strength. Seat pads of the Mark-3 and Mark-6 are adjustable in width from 8.25 inches up to 10 inches wide, Mark-7 and Mark-8 adjust from 9.5 inches to 11 inches. We try to think of everything so, an extra set of foam seat pads is included in the event of damage due to vandalism or a fall etc.

  • Rail fits any standard micro-adjustable clamp and/or old style 'U' clamp of your bicycle seat. Does not come with the clamp.
  • Open design, is incredibly easy to secure, remove and adjust! No more hassles!

  • Is approximately 4 inches shorter than most seats and the front part of the rail does not get in the way or present any danger.

  • Weighs approx. 500 grams.

  • How  does it work; how does it help?
  • Is built with the recognition that removing pressure from the perineum (the area between the rectum and genitals) means transferring it to the ischium or "sit bones"recognizing that:
    1. Riders come in different sizes.
    2. When you sit on your sit bones you are sitting on muscle and a layer of fat. A successful transfer of weight means a wider bicycle seat. Narrow bicycle seats must be questioned.
is the Complete Solution for the following reasons:

       1. No damaging pressure on the perineum (the area between the rectum and genitals).

       2. The dual platforms  are tilted to eliminate the problem of nonadjusting seatpost clamps. If you do have a tilting seatpost clamp, you have even more adjustment options!

       3. Dual platforms are 3 1/2" wide (Mark-7 is 4" wide) because a wider bicycle seat allows for a successful transfer of weight. And, platforms are inwardly and outwardly adjustable so you can customize to fit you exactly! You may be completely happy with how we have set up your bicycle seat but if you want to make adjustments all you need is a 7/16" wrench! There are no moving parts or complicated mechanisms to foul up, break down or service!

4.'Wipe out' and tear the foam? Simply pop off the old pads and put on the new ones! I provide 1 extra set (2 pads) of foam pads with every seat! Should you require additional foam sets, they can be purchased

  • Is there really medical/anatomical science here?

  • Chronic pain conditions associated with perineal anatomy compression forces  and other factors are a very real problem for many men. Accordingly, medical science offers solutions for relief to those affected and information critical to prevention for those who aren't -yet.

    http://www.chronicprostatitis.com reports that:

Cycling, ...involve significant perineal compression forces which starve the urethra, bladder and prostate of blood.

Blood starvation is known as "ischemia". When the blood returns to the area it is known as "reperfusion". As a result of this, one can suffer an "ischemia-reperfusion injury", which has long been known to result in inflammation in the area affected. An IR injury may also lead to inflammation through nerve damage. That's the whole concept in a nutshell. It's a well known and much-studied concept in medicine, where transplanted organs may become inflamed after blood deprivation, for instance. To make matters worse, the prostate is a poorly blood-perfused gland anyway, so the ischemia caused by excessive sitting may make a gland with a marginal blood supply even more susceptible to this kind of injury.

"... physical therapist, however, suggested that I fold two towels lengthwise and place them almost parallel but not touching so that ...just behind the ischium (the sit bone) ...is entirely supported by a folded towel. My perineum is thus suspended between the two folded towels--meaning that there is no pressure on it whatever."[Precisely the concept of the Mark IV Hornless Bike Seat]

  • Is this seat for me?

  • Is a slightly wider seat (the seat pads are inwardly and outwadly adjustable) and so is not suited for the technical trail riding or downhilling.

  • May not be for the very occasional rider, and, in our experience, for riders over 225lbs.

  • What about female riders?

  • Designed to eliminate the problem of diminishing sexual performance, penile numbness, the threat of impotency, male perineum demage and general to extreme discomfort as caused by single platform bicycle seats,it also eliminates pressure on the nerves and arteries of female riders. Consider the following expert opinion:

NEW YORK (Reuters Health) - "Just like men, women who bike regularly can be struck with genital pain and numbness after a lengthy ride. But an anatomically-friendly bicycle seat might help matters; a sports medicine doctor reports: `I don't know that women are aware of symptoms they can get and that a seat can impact that,' Dr. Juan C. Buller, a sports medicine physician in Sacramento, California, told Reuters Health. `For long-term riding, you have quite a few symptoms seen in males, such as pain, impotence and sexual dysfunction,' Buller said. `We wanted to see whether these same symptoms are found in females.' Buller also investigated whether such symptoms could be alleviated by specially-designed bike seats called split seats,...' " [Precisely the concept of the Mark IV Hornless Bike Seat]

"According to Buller, the women reported less discomfort, numbness and pain with the split seat than with the standard one. Buller said that he would not take `lightly' the problems associated with the prolonged pressure of biking. `A lot of people spend money on equipment,' he noted. `I think the saddle is something they should be careful about.'
