  First of all I want to thank you for your very quick turnaround on shipping the scat mat to us! It arrived in perfect condition and let me tell you – do our cats HATE it already! Before I put it out on our couch, I put my hand full on the mat because I wanted to know what my cats were going to feel – it gave me a good shock; just what you would expect from a 9v battery, but I could see that it wasn’t going to hurt my cats.

  Before we purchased the mat, we tried everything to keep our 10-month-old kitties off of our very expensive leather couches….we covered them with tinfoil (which cats are supposed to hate), we sprayed the cats with compressed air cans and water guns – but nothing worked. Our cats are INSANE.

  We purchased the 5-foot long scat mat strip and within 5 minutes of laying it on top of one of our couches, the first cat jumped onto it – and then flew about 5 feet into the air! I’ve never seen a cat so surprised, or run so fast out of a room! The second cat had the same experience the first time around. They stayed completely away from the couches for the rest of the first day and then the next day while chasing each other, they both landed on the mat again.

  To make a long story short, NEITHER cat has gone near either of our leather couches since. Both cats used to sleep on the top of each of our couches and now they have found new places in the house to sleep, so I consider this product a very successful training aide; and the only thing that has EVER worked successfully on my crazy cats.

  Yes we have received the scat mat. We have an English mastiff (150 lbs) and a rottweiller/lab mix (100 lbs) who thought the sofa was their dog bed. They have totally destroyed it, not by chewing or any such behavior but just getting on and off it and laying and rolling on it. We have been trying to teach them to stay off the sofa for over a year so that we might get a new sofa and not have it in the same condition within 6 months of purchase. To no avail. Upon receiving the scat mat and installing it on the sofa under a sheet, our problem was solved. Each dog got on the sofa ONCE after the scat mat was put down. Since then they have stayed off, though they do often stand and look longingly at the sofa.

  I think we are about ready to get that new sofa. Just want to use a variety of sheets to hide the scat mat so that the dogs don't think that it is just the one particular patterned sheet.

  Yes I did received my scat mat rather promptly, and I am very pleased with the same. It has worked so well in just one or two tries that the cat avoids it like the plague. We needed it to keep him from running out the door as he was recently hit by a car. I had tried everything but with children leaving the door open it was an easy escape. Now he doesn't go near the door. Thank you for a great product for an excellent price.

• Within 5 minutes of putting it on my couch, one of my cats decided to jump on top of it. Needless to say, he hasn't gone near it nor the room since. His brother is keeping away as well. I will probably be ordering the extension piece as well.

I received my scat mat on Wednesday of this week. Lilly, my standard Poodle, stepped on it twice when I first put it down. The first time she took one step on it and "hot" footed herself into a leap to get past it. She looked down at her paws as if to ask them, 'Hey, what's wrong with y'all?' ... . She then proceeded to take one tentative step across it - got a surprise and picked that paw up and started to lick it. However, she didn't try to come back across but gave that mat a good piece of her mind (she barked and barked at it).

A friend came over a short time after this and we went on the other side of the mat. Lilly forgot the mat and started across - again she grew wings and flew. ... . She again gave that mat a good barking.

Today is Friday and she has not touched that mat since those 3 times. She has sniffed without touching, barked and growled at it and has now given that up. She appears to have accepted that she has lost access to the kitchen. Last evening we turned the mat off and she still has not tried to cross it.

No more baby gates, no more scolding, and soon to be no more closed doors ... . Before I move the mat, I will turn it back on with a light-weight rug over it so if she tries to cross she will still be reminded not to enter. I will leave the rug and move the mat (I saw this on the instruction sheet and sounds good to me!).

  Yes, the scat mat worked great for the pool table. I now have the mat, and an extension mat by the front door, to keep my dog from running outside, and that has been working great too! I have also found that when I need to clean an area of the house, i.e. wax a floor or something else that can take some time to dry, the scat mat is great for "pet proofing" that area. I have been really pleased with the scat mat -- it is an effective and humane product!

• A couple living in Vancouver BC, Canada had three cats who developed a habit of climbing onto the dining room table at night occasionally knocking things off the table. The cats were trained over three nights to avoid the table by the owner who placed a Scat Mat on the table. By the end of the second evening all three cats had contacted the mat. The mat was then removed. A month later the couple moved. During that month, none of the cats had returned to the table. Even after moving to a new apartment, the cats continued to avoid the dining room table.




• A Victoria B.C. homeowner had rented his basement suite to a couple with three cats. For the seven years the couple had occupied the suite, their cats had always scooted through the door connecting the respective living quarters whenever it was opened.A Scat Mat was placed on the homeowner's side of the connecting doorway. Within hours all three cats had tried to sneak through the open connecting door and had stepped on the energized Scat Mat. All three animals immediately beat a hasty retreat back into their side of the house. These animals were immediately trained not to cross that boundary. Six months later, the cats would not cross the threshold, even when coaxed. After two years, only one of the cats would occasionally attempt to enter the other side if the door was left open long enough. However, approaches would be very cautious and could be stopped with a verbal reprimand.


Durability: 
The Scat Mat is water resistant, withstands considerable abuse and it can be walked upon. If it rains, the mat simply gets wet. There is no change in the output properties or effectiveness. However, if a thorough soaking should occur and the Power Pack ceases to operate, it should resume working normally after it dries. If the mat has a chance of getting soaked frequently we highly recommend removing the Power Pack and situating it in a dry location. Optional snap on Connector Cords are available in various lengths to connect the Power Pack to the Mat. The vinyl is cold crack treated to minus 18 degrees Celsius(0F).

Usage: 
Place the mat at the location, or in the path leading to the location where the animal exhibits the undesirable behavior. i.e.: on the hood of the car, under a plant, on the sofa, table, counter, soiled floor area, etc... Once positioned and properly connected, the Scat Mat requires no further attention. Once the animal has begun to avoid the area the mat may be removed.

If the mat is to protect surface that is larger than the mat, it can be concealed beneath a sheet of newspaper,a thin cotton sheet, table cloth or similar thin fabric including light car covers.
