What size to Buy? Scatmat medium is sized well for use at door thresholds, on night tables, sofa arm rests and the like. Large Scat mat is well suited to guard wider thresholds, counter tops sofas and car hoods. Strips may be used on counter and table top edges where dogs often place front paws , or narrow ledges where cats may frequent. Extension mats do not have a battery or electronic control, rather they are powered by a Scatmat or Strip using its controller to extend coverage and may be snapped end to end ( up to two) of any size Scatmat or used with the 12 foot power cord to reach out to a space behind or beside Scatmat. How else may Scatmat be applied ? Because Scat Mat will conduct through material as thick as denim you can extend coverage without an extension by concealing Scat Mat beneath a larger blanket, throw, table cloth or mat and your pet will associate the entire covered area with the unpleasant sensation transmitted by Scat Mat. Further, because Scat Mat is unseen, the covering itself becomes something the animal avoids. Then, just remove Scat Mat from beneath the covering once your cat or dog is trained to avoid that area. Color ? All Scatmat products are clear vinyl so your pet cannot easily distinguish the mat from the surface to be protected. The Scat Mat is a touch sensitive pad. It repels animals
that step on it.
The electronics (in the snap on black Power Pack) convert
9 volt battery power into a series of high voltage sparks similar
to static electricity. These sparks are sent to the mat for three seconds

I received my scat mat on Wednesday of this week. Lilly, my standard Poodle, stepped on it twice when I first put it down. The first time she took one step on it and "hot" footed herself into a leap to get past it. She looked down at her paws as if to ask them, 'Hey, what's wrong with y'all?' ... . She then proceeded to take one tentative step across it - got a surprise and picked that paw up and started to lick it. However, she didn't try to come back across but gave that mat a good piece of her mind (she barked and barked at it). There is no change in the output properties or effectiveness. However, if a thorough soaking should occur and the Power Pack ceases to operate, it should resume working normally after it dries.
