I separated the Terrapin Safety Turtle Pool Alarm base station and the turtle wrist band about 50 feet (has a typical range of 200 feet) apart from a sink on the second level to the driveway outside. All it took was less than 1 inch of water to trigger the device, sending a radio signal to the base station alarm. Immediately, the base station (two stories down and 50 ft. away), positioned in the driveway, began its unmistakable, warbling alarm that begins low and quickly builds to an alarming 110 decibel crescendo. This unique pool alarm sound is sort of a cross between a car alarm and an ambulance and exudes a very effective get going IMMEDIATELY warning.Only the very latest B102 model, is avaialble from this site. How does it work ? The B102 Safety Turtle Pool Alarm base station has an internal speaker and is normally placed in a central, accessible position inside your home. This base station is a radio receiver waiting for a specific signal from any direction -front, back, left, right- at a distance of up to 200 feet (for extended range see SB102 Xtended range) from the Turtle wristband. The turtle wristband is the transmitter worn around a child's wrist (*see important note). The wrist turtle has a tiny internal battery that lies dormant until activated by water immersion. Once activated the radio signal is transmitted and sensed by the Safety Turtle base station which broadcasts a piercing alarm.
Picture it this way: ingredients: child (or pet), base station, wristband, water; mix child ( or pet) with water - result, loud piercing alarm ! The Turtle wristband will easily fit older children and toddlers. I tried it on my son, who's a hefty 35 pound 3 year old. With adequate adjustment left on the strap it plainly would fit a much smaller or larger child. The Safety Turtle wrist band is made of smooth, strong, nylon webbing and a sturdy, plastic locking buckle through which the nylon webbing passes then locks/unlocks on the child's wrist using a handy 1/4 inch "Allen" key (included). Need accessories?
Protect your pet add a pet collar. The pet collar is an adaptor that simply replaces the wrist strap from turtle wristband. Slip out the wrist strap and slide in the pet collar adaptor, then affix the sensor snugly to the side or bottom of your pets neck collar. When your dog hits the water the sensor will immerse in water and trigger the base station alarm. Same process as if attached to the wrist of a child.
For an added layer of protection use the New Gate Alarm to signal that your pool aget has been opened. Many children, drown in a neighbour's pool by getting through an ulocked gate. Wireless, it integrates directly with the base alarm to trigger whenever gate is opened ( has discreet 11 second daly button for householders).
For remote use add a battery pack and carry case; provides up to 9 hours of power when fully charged. For extended power to your battery pack add a 12volt DC cord with adapter plugs into a car 12volt accessories outlet (also charges battery as it powers the unit).

For extended range coverage up to 1,500 feet and use in salt water, use the SB102 Base Station , which consists of:
1./ base station;
2./ small external transmitter;
3./wireless receiver/horn;
4./waterproof cover.
How it works: The transmitter simply plugs into the base station and functions as an amplifier sending a powerful signal to the receiver. In turn, the receiver/horn and base sound a loud, piercing alarm. What about salt water ? B102 Safety Turtle is not suitable / fully reliable for use in sea water and its effectiveness in pools decreases when salt content exceeds 4000 ppm.Please click here read the salt water details page regarding this.

Safety Turtle is a state-of-the-art product to provide a "last line of defense" for protecting children in your care from swimming pool accidents. It is not a substitute for diligent supervision or for pool access barriers.

The Turtle wristband has been designed to be pleasing to young children, so they want to wear it. Safety Turtle base station is for indoor use only and the can be plugged into any regular 115 volt AC outlet. Safety Turtle system cannot be used in sea water or pools with a salt concentration more than 4,000 ppm.

This device complies with pertinent FCC Rules and Industry Canada Regulations. The maximum operating separation (range) between the base Station and Turtle is typically 100 feet (30 meters). This will vary from home to home due to differences in blockage and radio interference.

Swimming pool accidents are one of the main causes of death of children under the age of 5 years. In a recent study, the US Consumer Products Safety Commission stated that an estimated 300 children under 5 years old drown annually in residential swimming pools in the US and that more than 2,000 additional children in that age group are treated in hospital emergency rooms for submersion injuries. The Safety Turtle alarm system consists of one or more Turtle wristbands, worn by young children, and a Base Station conveniently located in the house. The Turtle, designed in the shape of a colorful turtle, instantly detects immersion in water and sends a radio signal to the Base Station.

The Base Station then alerts the household through a loud, distinctive alarm. Any number of Turtles ( same color) may be used with one Base Station.

The product has been carefully designed for use with children. The Turtle wristband locks securely around the child's wrist. The Turtles, which are available in six bright colors, are permanently sealed and ruggedly built to withstand children's play. Rain or spray from lawn sprinklers will not trigger the alarm. The Turtle has a battery life of at least four years when used every day.

A "used fee" charged by the manufacturer of $5.00 on returned items that have been opened will also be deducted .
